Take our partnership with Ad Gefrin, a bold and brilliant new business that opened its doors in March 2023. A true start-up story, Ad Gefrin wasn’t just launching a distillery and visitor experience – they were creating something entirely new in the heart of Wooler. With no existing team in place, they needed to build a full workforce from the ground up, and they needed a recruitment partner who could match their pace, ambition, and community values.
Talentheads joined the journey in May 2022, working as an embedded recruitment partner to shape and deliver a strategic, community-first hiring approach. Our work began with the senior leadership appointments, ensuring the right foundations were in place. From there, we collaborated closely with newly appointed managers to deliver the rest of the recruitment – scaling quickly to support volume hiring.
From Distillers to Kitchen Porters, and from Head of Operations to Front of House, we supported the recruitment of over 50 roles. We engaged deeply with the local community, hosting open events in November 2022 and assessment centres in early January 2023. Over 200 candidates took part, and we filled every available position.
This wasn’t just about advertising roles. We promoted opportunities across social media, job boards, and sourced directly – taking a proactive, people-first approach to match the right individuals to this uniquely Northumbrian business.
Through a clear, collaborative strategy and hands-on delivery, Ad Gefrin successfully built a passionate, values-aligned team ready for launch. The business made its mark not only through its impressive visitor offering, but through the opportunities it created for people in the region. The result? A strong employer brand from day one, with a workforce that reflects the culture and character of the community it serves.
